Dear Gary D. Wright Elementary School Learning Community,
It is a privilege and an honor to serve as the Principal of Gary D. Wright Elementary School. I would like to take this opportunity to provide you with some background information about myself.
Professionally, I began my career as a fourth grade teacher at Woodland Intermediate School, located within Woodland School District 50. I have spent the past twelve years gaining experience as a school administrator, where prior to my appointment as Principal of Gary D. Wright Elementary School, I served as the Assistant Principal of Liberty Elementary School right here in District 300 and Prairie Grove Elementary School in Prairie Grove School District 46, as well as Principal of James C. Bush Elementary School in Johnsburg School District 12.
I value my educational experiences and strive to be a model of life-long learning. I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Spanish from the University of Illinois. I then attended Northern Illinois University, where I earned a Master of Science in Education degree in Educational Administration. I am currently pursuing a Doctor of Education degree in Leadership in Educational Administration from Aurora University.
My goal as the instructional leader of Gary D. Wright Elementary School is to work collaboratively with all stakeholders to foster a safe and effective learning environment while engaging students through content, instruction, and technology in support of each student’s social, emotional, and academic growth and the District’s mission to ensure our students reach their unique and full potential as self-directed learners and responsible citizens.
As Principal of Gary D. Wright Elementary School, I look forward to getting to know you and your student. Building relationships is so important to me. Please feel free to contact me at (847) 683-5700 or Melanie.Gravel@d300.org.
I look forward to the 2016-2017 academic year and working in partnership with you in support of your child’s success!
